
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – In a major step towards deepening bilateral ties, a high-level delegation from the Kyrgyz Republic, led by H.E. Edil Baisalov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad . The visit coincides with the 5th Session of the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Joint Intergovernmental Commission (IGC), a vital platform for fostering multi-sectoral cooperation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly welcomed the Kyrgyz delegation and expressed satisfaction over the successful convening of the IGC session. He commended the signing of the Protocol and several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), which mark significant progress in enhancing trade, energy cooperation, regional connectivity, and people-to-people linkages.

“The agreements signed today represent a clear commitment by both countries to accelerate bilateral cooperation and deliver meaningful results for our people,” stated the Prime Minister, emphasizing the need for timely implementation of the IGC’s decisions to ensure tangible benefits.
The Deputy Chairman Edil Baisalov, on behalf of the Kyrgyz leadership, appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in strengthening bilateral relations and reiterated Kyrgyzstan’s keen interest in expanding partnerships in areas including commerce, transport, energy, agriculture, education, and culture.
The Kyrgyz delegation also acknowledged Pakistan’s strategic importance in the region and welcomed its efforts to promote regional integration, particularly within the frameworks of ECO, SCO, and other multilateral fora.
Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepen political, economic, and cultural ties, and to engage actively at all levels to unlock the true potential of the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan partnership.
The visit of Deputy Chairman Edil Baisalov not only underscores the growing warmth in bilateral relations but also sets the stage for enhanced cooperation that supports peace, progress, and prosperity in the broader Central and South Asian region.
