Pakistan High Commission in Canada Celebrates 79th Independence Day and “Marka-e-Haq” with Patriotic Fervor

High Commissioner of Pakistan H.E Muhammad Saleem

Ottawa – The High Commission for Pakistan, along with the three Consulates General across Canada, marked Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day and the “Marka-e-Haq” with great zeal and national pride, paying rich tribute to the founding fathers, the valiant Armed Forces, and the martyrs of the nation.

The ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag by the High Commissioner, followed by the reading of special messages from the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan. These messages honored the sacrifices of the founding fathers, celebrated the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and lauded the courage and resilience of the Pakistani nation and its Armed Forces.

In his address, High Commissioner Muhammad Saleem underscored that Independence Day is not only a celebration of hard-won freedom but also a solemn tribute to those who safeguard it. He praised the Armed Forces for their resolute and professional response to Indian aggression in May 2025, noting that “Marka-e-Haq” stands as a national salute to the Shuhada (martyrs) and Ghazis (veterans) whose sacrifices have preserved Pakistan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and dignity.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), the High Commissioner strongly condemned ongoing human rights violations and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to continue political, diplomatic, and moral support until Kashmiris achieve their UN-mandated right to self-determination.

The event concluded with special prayers for Pakistan’s progress, prosperity, and the strength of its Armed Forces. Members of the Pakistani diaspora, community leaders, and friends of Pakistan attended in large numbers, expressing their deep affection for the homeland and solidarity with its cause.
