ISLAMABAD, August 3, 2025 — Pakistan and Iran have reaffirmed their strong commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation across a wide spectrum of areas, with a shared focus on promoting peace, regional stability, and mutual prosperity.
This understanding was reached during a high-level meeting between the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, and President of Pakistan, H.E. Asif Ali Zardari, held at Aiwan-e-Sadr today. The Iranian President is on an official visit to Pakistan as part of ongoing efforts to enhance regional connectivity and collaboration.
Welcoming the visiting dignitary, President Zardari emphasized the deeply rooted fraternal ties between Pakistan and Iran, underscoring their foundation in shared religious, cultural, and historical bonds. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to nurturing these ties and enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, energy, border management, culture, education, and regional security.

The two leaders held comprehensive discussions on bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments of mutual concern. Both sides stressed the importance of close diplomatic coordination to prevent the escalation of regional conflicts and to promote peaceful conflict resolution through dialogue and diplomacy.
President Zardari acknowledged Iran’s consistent and principled stance on key regional matters and expressed appreciation for Tehran’s support in times of crisis. He also conveyed Pakistan’s deep gratitude to His Eminence, Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei, for his unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Addressing recent developments in the Middle East, President Zardari strongly condemned the unprovoked Israeli aggression against Iran and commended the resilience, unity, and courage of the Iranian people during the 12-day conflict. He expressed confidence that the visit of President Pezeshkian would further solidify the historic and brotherly partnership between the two nations.
President Pezeshkian, in his remarks, thanked the leadership and people of Pakistan for their steadfast support and solidarity during the recent conflict. He praised Pakistan’s principled and constructive diplomatic efforts in advocating for de-escalation and peace in the region.
The Iranian President also reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, infrastructure, energy, and people-to-people exchanges. He highlighted the importance of regional partnerships based on mutual respect, sovereignty, and non-interference.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to further intensify high-level exchanges and institutional mechanisms aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, ensuring border stability, and fostering regional integration.
President Pezeshkian’s visit marks a renewed momentum in Pakistan-Iran relations, paving the way for deeper collaboration and shared progress in the years to come.
