
ISLAMABAD – Four newly designated ambassadors presented their credentials to President Asif Ali Zardari in a formal ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr today.
The newly accredited diplomats are:
- Mr. Tim Kane, High Commissioner-designate of Australia
- Mr. Munsoo Kurrimbaccus, High Commissioner-designate of the Republic of Mauritius
- H.E. Mrs. Maja Mortensen, Ambassador-designate of the Kingdom of Denmark
- H.E. Mr. Salem Mohammed Salem Al Bawab Al Zaabi, Ambassador-designate of the United Arab Emirates
Upon their arrival at the Presidency, a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Armed Forces presented the envoys with a ceremonial Guard of Honour.
President Zardari congratulated the envoys on their appointments and expressed confidence that their tenures would significantly strengthen Pakistan’s bilateral relations with their respective countries.
In his individual meetings, the President discussed avenues for enhanced cooperation with each nation:

- With High Commissioner-designate Tim Kane of Australia, the President emphasized the potential for deeper collaboration in trade, investment, and agriculture. He highlighted the education sector as a key pillar of the relationship, noting the substantial Pakistani student community in Australia, and appreciated the diaspora’s role in fostering bilateral goodwill.

- With High Commissioner-designate Munsoo Kurrimbaccus of Mauritius, President Zardari underscored the long-standing friendship, rooted in deep cultural affinity and a shared Commonwealth heritage. He identified trade, investment, agriculture, and defence cooperation as priority areas for further strengthening ties.

- With Ambassador-designate Maja Mortensen of Denmark, the President appreciated the close coordination between the two countries at the UN Security Council. He outlined significant potential for expanded cooperation in trade, agriculture, dairy technology, and infrastructure development. The President also acknowledged Denmark’s support for Pakistan’s green transition and climate resilience agenda.

- With Ambassador-designate Salem Al Zaabi of the UAE, the President reaffirmed Pakistan’s historic and fraternal solidarity with the Emirates, recalling that Pakistan was the first nation to recognize the UAE in 1971. He emphasized the need to enhance bilateral trade and security cooperation and lauded the Pakistani diaspora for serving as a vital bridge between the two nations.
Concluding the ceremonies, President Zardari extended his best wishes to the envoys for a successful and productive tenure, expressing hope that their efforts would lead to stronger, mutually beneficial partnerships.
