MWL chief meets Spanish officials in Madrid

MWL chief Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa meets Pedro Rollan, president of the Senate of Spain

RIYADH: Muslim World League Secretary-General Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa met Pedro Rollan, president of the Senate of Spain, in Madrid on Wednesday. 

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between the MWL and the Spanish Senate and exploring shared concerns. Key topics included advancing dialogue and cross-cultural communication to promote peace amid rising civilizational tensions.

Discussions also highlighted the league’s initiatives supporting Muslim minorities and fostering their positive integration into national communities.

Al-Issa received the Senate’s highest medal, the MWL posted on X.

Rollan praised the league for promoting Islamic values of tolerance, coexistence, and bridge-building. He noted the importance of the Charter of Makkah as highlighted by the UN, religious leaders, and international research centers. 

He also likened the city of Toledo’s historical role to the MWL’s current efforts, which emphasize the importance of religious diversity. 

Al-Issa also had separate discussions with Hana Jalloul, vice-chair of the EU Committee on Foreign Affairs, and Maria Francisca Carazo Villalonga, mayor of Granada.
