Rabat – The Government of Morocco has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to regional peace and international law, strongly condemning what it described as “heinous attacks” attributed to Iran against several Arab nations.

Speaking at the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Ambassador Omar Zniber emphasized that such actions constitute a clear violation of sovereignty and pose a serious threat to stability across the Middle East and beyond.

A Principled Voice for Sovereignty and Unity

Morocco’s position reflects a consistent foreign policy rooted in respect for national sovereignty and peaceful coexistence. The ambassador reiterated that His Majesty King Mohammed VI had already conveyed Morocco’s full solidarity with affected nations, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Jordan.

This unified stance highlights Morocco’s role as a responsible regional actor advocating dialogue, mutual respect, and collective security.

Standing Against Destabilization and Extremism

Ambassador Zniber drew attention to what Morocco described as a pattern of destabilizing activities, including alleged support for extremist and separatist elements. Rabat stressed that such actions not only threaten territorial integrity but also undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and regional cooperation.

Morocco’s condemnation extended to attacks targeting civilians and critical infrastructure—actions that raise grave humanitarian concerns and violate fundamental human rights principles.

Protecting Global Trade and Maritime Security

Particular concern was expressed over disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for global energy supplies and trade. Morocco warned that continued instability in this strategic corridor could have far-reaching consequences for international markets, supply chains, and food security worldwide.

By highlighting these risks, Rabat reinforced the importance of safeguarding maritime navigation and ensuring uninterrupted global commerce.

Support for International Law and Multilateral Action

Morocco welcomed the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 and reaffirmed its support for ongoing multilateral efforts to address escalating tensions. The resolution, co-sponsored by Morocco, strongly condemns attacks on civilians and essential infrastructure, including energy, transportation, water, and food systems.

The Moroccan delegation emphasized that protecting vulnerable populations remains a central priority and called for adherence to international humanitarian law.

A Balanced Approach: Defense and Diplomacy

While reaffirming the right of affected nations to self-defense, Morocco also stressed the importance of diplomatic engagement and conflict resolution. Its balanced approach reflects a broader vision: maintaining regional stability while encouraging constructive dialogue among all parties.

Morocco’s Leadership on the Global Stage

Through its clear and principled stance, Morocco continues to position itself as a credible advocate for peace, stability, and international cooperation. Its active participation in global forums underscores a commitment not only to regional security but also to the broader framework of international law and human rights.

As tensions persist, Morocco’s message remains consistent: sovereignty must be respected, civilians must be protected, and dialogue must prevail over confrontation.
