
- Pakistan and Iran as two brotherly Muslim Countries share steadfast commitment for global peace and unity of Muslim Ummah: Prime Minister
Islamabad — Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, along with a high-level delegation, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today.
The Prime Minister warmly welcomed the visiting delegation and recalled the deep-rooted and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran, founded on shared faith, history, and cultural affinities. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to promoting peace, stability, and development in the region through dialogue and diplomacy.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his profound respect for His Eminence, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian.
The Prime Minister emphasized that both Pakistan and Iran have consistently stood by each other in the face of external aggression and condemned all forms of state-sponsored terrorism. He noted that both nations have suffered from the scourge of terrorism and therefore share a common resolve to advance global peace, prosperity, and constructive regional cooperation.
Underscoring the importance of unity among Muslim nations, the Prime Minister stated that Pakistan and Iran are determined to work together for the strength and solidarity of the Muslim Ummah. He also expressed Pakistan’s desire to enhance collaboration in areas of mutual interest, particularly economic development and bilateral trade.
In his remarks, Speaker Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf expressed deep gratitude to the Prime Minister, Government, and people of Pakistan for their steadfast and principled support to Iran during the recent Iran-Israel conflict. He noted that Pakistan’s support during the 12-day confrontation was deeply valued and appreciated by the Iranian nation.
The Speaker reiterated Iran’s commitment to further strengthening its multifaceted cooperation with Pakistan, especially in the spheres of trade, investment, and parliamentary engagement. He conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the people of Pakistan, and thanked the Government of Pakistan for the generous hospitality extended to him and his delegation.
Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi, also attended the meeting.
