Astana – The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, H.E. Yermek Kosherbayev, held a high-level meeting with ambassadors representing the Gulf States and Jordan to discuss the evolving situation in the Middle East and explore avenues for enhanced diplomatic cooperation.

Focus on Regional Stability and Dialogue

During the meeting, both sides exchanged perspectives on the ongoing tensions across the region. Minister Kosherbayev expressed deep concern over the recent escalation, including strikes affecting friendly Arab nations, and underscored the urgent need to de-escalate hostilities. He highlighted the humanitarian consequences, including civilian casualties and damage to critical infrastructure, stressing the importance of an immediate cessation of violence.

The Minister also extended appreciation to the ambassadors for their support in facilitating the safe evacuation and return of Kazakh citizens during the crisis, reflecting strong diplomatic coordination and solidarity.

Support for Peace Initiatives

Kazakhstan reaffirmed its firm support for diplomatic efforts led by Gulf nations aimed at reducing tensions and fostering constructive political dialogue. In particular, Astana welcomed the joint peace initiative spearheaded by China and Pakistan, recognizing its significance in promoting regional stability.

Reiterating its commitment to peacebuilding, Kazakhstan expressed readiness to offer its historic city of Turkestan as a neutral platform for dialogue and negotiations among stakeholders.

Strengthening Cooperation and Coordination

In turn, the ambassadors from the Gulf States and Jordan emphasized the importance of sustained international collaboration to ensure security and stability in the region. They welcomed Kazakhstan’s proactive diplomatic role and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties with Astana through increased coordination, political dialogue, and the implementation of joint initiatives.
