Japan Honours Ms. Neveen Syed with Foreign Minister’s Commendation for Promoting Cultural Relations Between Japan and Pakistan

Islamabad — The Government of Japan has conferred the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation for 2025 upon Ms. Neveen Syed, Chairperson of the Lahore Floritage Sogetsu Study Group, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the promotion of cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and Pakistan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan had announced the conferment of this prestigious honour on Ms. Neveen on August 28, 2025.

A formal presentation ceremony was held during the annual Ikebana Flower Arrangement Exhibition organized by the Lahore Floritage Sogetsu Study Group, where H.E. Mr. Akamatsu Shuichi, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, presented the commendation to Ms. Neveen on behalf of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.

The Lahore Floritage Sogetsu Study Group is a cultural organization dedicated to promoting Ikebana, the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement. Under Ms. Neveen Syed’s leadership, the Group has played a vital role in fostering greater appreciation for Japanese aesthetics and culture in Pakistan through classes, exhibitions, and other cultural exchange activities.

Commending Ms. Neveen on receiving the award, Ambassador Akamatsu lauded her tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to enhancing cultural relations between Japan and Pakistan.

“The conferment of the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation is a testament to Ms. Neveen Syed’s dedication and contributions toward strengthening the bonds of friendship and mutual understanding between our two nations,” said Ambassador Akamatsu. “We look forward to her continued efforts in promoting Ikebana and Japanese culture in Pakistan, serving as a bridge of goodwill between our peoples.”

The Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation is awarded annually to individuals and organizations worldwide that have made distinguished contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries.
