- Tehran Appreciates Doha’s Role in Easing Middle East Tensions
LONDON: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has thanked Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for Doha’s diplomatic efforts in facilitating a crucial interim agreement between Iran and the United States, bringing an end to more than 100 days of escalating conflict in the Middle East.
According to the Qatar News Agency, Pezeshkian praised Qatar’s mediation efforts, saying they contributed to reducing regional tensions and supporting broader international stability.
Qatar Reaffirms Commitment to Dialogue and Peace
Sheikh Tamim reaffirmed Qatar’s continued support for diplomatic solutions to international disputes. He expressed hope that the interim agreement between Tehran and Washington would pave the way for lasting regional security and greater global stability.
The agreement, formally titled the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America,” was signed on Wednesday by Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump.
Pakistan Plays Key Role in Facilitating Negotiations
Pakistan also emerged as a key diplomatic player in the negotiations, helping bring both sides to the table for 60 days of talks focused on Iran’s nuclear program, the future of the Strait of Hormuz, and the lifting of the US blockade on Iranian ports.
The 14-point memorandum was later submitted to the US Congress on Thursday, marking a significant step toward formalizing the framework for continued negotiations and regional de-escalation.
