RAWALPINDI: The General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi hosted a ceremony to commemorate the 99th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of the People’s Republic of China, reaffirming the deep-rooted defence partnership and strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China.

Field Marshal Asim Munir Pays Tribute to PLA

His Excellency Jiang Zaidong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Pakistan, attended the event as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony was also attended by Major General Wang Zhong, China’s Defence Attaché, officials from the Chinese Embassy, and senior officers representing Pakistan’s Army, Navy and Air Force.

Field Marshal Asim Munir Pays Tribute to PLA

Welcoming the distinguished guests, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, extended heartfelt congratulations to the People’s Liberation Army on the occasion of its 99th founding anniversary.

He praised the PLA for its outstanding contributions to China’s national defence, socio-economic development, and its role in promoting regional and international peace and security.

Pakistan-China Friendship Described as Time-Tested

Highlighting the exceptional nature of bilateral relations, Field Marshal Asim Munir described the Pakistan-China friendship as unique, time-tested and resilient, having withstood changing regional and global dynamics.

He reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces and the PLA remain trusted strategic partners, united by mutual confidence, unwavering support and a shared commitment to safeguarding regional peace, stability and common strategic interests.

“The Pakistan Armed Forces and the PLA are true partners, bound by mutual trust and an enduring commitment to regional security and strategic cooperation,” he said.

Chinese Ambassador Reaffirms Beijing’s Unwavering Support

Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked Field Marshal Asim Munir for hosting the commemorative event and expressed appreciation for the longstanding military cooperation between the two countries.

He commended the Pakistan Armed Forces for their sacrifices and significant contributions in the fight against terrorism and reiterated China’s unwavering support for Pakistan.

The ambassador also reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to further strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, underscoring the shared vision of both countries for enhanced defence collaboration, regional stability and long-term strategic cooperation.
