The expanded facility features terminals and warehouses capable of processing up to one million 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs) per year, establishing a new benchmark for logistics capacity in the region. The center enables dry bulk cargo to be packaged domestically, delivering substantial foreign currency savings and unlocking broad employment opportunities for Ethiopian citizens. Operational efficiency at the hub is powered by Ethiopia’s first-ever Rail-Mounted Gantry (RMG) crane, which facilitates the high-speed transfer of containers directly from the rail line—signalling a significant leap forward in the nation’s cargo-handling capabilities.
