Islamabad – In a strong reaffirmation of Denmark’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s green transition, Denmark’s Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, Mr. Peter Emil Nielsen, hosted a dinner reception in Islamabad in honour of a visiting high-level delegation from the Danish Energy Agency (DEA). The delegation was led by Mr. Carl-Christian Munk-Nielsen, Director at the Centre for Global Cooperation.
The event brought together a diverse and influential group of participants, including senior government officials, energy sector leaders, climate change stakeholders, and members of the donor and diplomatic communities. Among the distinguished guests were Federal Minister for Climate Change, Dr. Musadik Masood Malik; Minister of State for Climate Change, Dr. Shezra Ali Khan; and the Special Advisor to the Prime Minister on Power, Mr. Muhammad Ali.
In his welcome address, Mr. Nielsen expressed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Danish government for the tragic loss of life and property resulting from recent cloudbursts and floods across Pakistan. He emphasized that these events underscore the critical urgency of climate action and the shared responsibility to advance a resilient and sustainable future.
Reflecting on the achievements of the Danish Energy Transition Initiative (DETI) — a flagship cooperation effort launched in 2021 — Mr. Nielsen highlighted how the initiative has brought together Danish expertise and Pakistani leadership to accelerate progress toward clean energy and sustainable development. He noted that Denmark is now preparing to deepen this partnership under the framework of a Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) programme focused on the energy sector.
“Denmark sees Pakistan not only as a key partner but also as a country with enormous potential for green growth,” Mr. Nielsen said. “We are committed to strengthening our collaboration in the areas of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate resilience.”

Federal Minister Dr. Musadik Malik welcomed Denmark’s continued support, describing it as an example of meaningful international cooperation in the fight against climate change. He stressed that such partnerships are essential to achieving Pakistan’s energy transition goals and fostering innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Carl-Christian Munk-Nielsen provided an overview of the DEA delegation’s visit and outlined future areas of cooperation. These include joint efforts to scale renewable energy projects, support policy development, enhance technical capacities, and promote cross-sector innovation in green energy systems.
The reception offered a valuable platform for open dialogue and networking, reinforcing the shared ambition of Pakistan and Denmark to build a cleaner, greener, and more resilient energy future. It also served as a testament to Denmark’s role as a forward-looking partner in global climate leadership and sustainable development.
