Islamabad – A vibrant gathering at the Indian High Commission in Pakistan celebrated a milestone of the world’s largest democracy, weaving together diplomacy and community in a display of regional camaraderie.

Marking the 77th anniversary of India’s Republic Day, a diplomatic reception became a confluence of South Asian ties and cross-sector engagement. The event was graced by the presence of India’s Charge d’Affaires, Ms. Geetika Srivastava, who stood alongside the senior diplomats of fellow SAARC nations. Ambassadors and High Commissioners from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and the Maldives joined in a ceremonial cake-cutting, symbolizing shared celebrations within the region.

The mission buzzed with a diverse assembly of guests, reflecting the wide-reaching bonds of the Indian diaspora and its international partnerships. Attendees included prominent members of the local Indian community, Pakistani officials, leading media representatives, and influential business figures, creating a mosaic of dialogue and exchange.
More than a national celebration, the event served as a live portrait of ongoing diplomatic engagement across SAARC. Republic Day commemorates January 26, 1950, the historic date when the Constitution of India came into force, transforming the nation into a newly formed republic. The reception, through its guest list and gestures, highlighted how this national milestone continues to resonate as a moment for regional connection and goodwill.
