- Party Chairman Valdemar Costa Neto Accepts Result Announced by Superior Electoral Court
RIO DE JANEIRO, 27 October 2026 : Brazil’s Liberal Party, which nominated Senator Flávio Bolsonaro as its presidential candidate, has formally recognised the victory of incumbent President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the presidential election, party Chairman Valdemar Costa Neto announced.
“We recognise the outcome of the presidential election announced by the Superior Electoral Court,” Costa Neto said.
Opposition Party Acknowledges Official Election Outcome
The statement marks the Liberal Party’s acceptance of the presidential election result as announced by Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court, the country’s highest electoral authority.
The party had nominated Flávio Bolsonaro, a senator and son of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, to contest the presidency against Lula da Silva.
The announcement underscores the importance of recognising the official electoral process and respecting the decisions of Brazil’s electoral institutions.
Brazil’s Political Landscape
The Liberal Party’s recognition of the result comes amid political competition between supporters of Lula da Silva and the Bolsonaro political movement. The development highlights the role of electoral institutions in determining official outcomes and maintaining confidence in Brazil’s democratic process.
