ASEAN Envoys Call on Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar Ahead of 32nd ARF Ministerial Meeting

Islamabad, July 8, 2025 — Heads of Missions from ASEAN member states in Pakistan, including envoys from Myanmar, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia, paid a joint courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar ahead of his upcoming participation in the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting later this week.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, served as a reaffirmation of the strong and growing partnership between Pakistan and ASEAN. The ASEAN envoys acknowledged the long-standing cooperation between Pakistan and the regional bloc, emphasizing the mutual commitment to peace, stability, and inclusive development across Asia.

Deputy Prime Minister Dar appreciated the continued engagement and collaboration with ASEAN and reiterated Pakistan’s desire to strengthen ties with the organization and its member countries. He emphasized that ASEAN remains a vital partner in Pakistan’s vision for regional connectivity and economic diplomacy.

Highlighting the shared interests and opportunities, Senator Dar underscored the need to expand cooperation in key areas such as trade, investment, tourism, information technology, connectivity, and education. He expressed confidence that Pakistan’s multifaceted engagement with ASEAN will continue to grow, contributing positively to regional and global peace and prosperity.

The Deputy Prime Minister also conveyed his anticipation of productive discussions at the upcoming ARF Ministerial Meeting and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the principles and goals of the ASEAN Regional Forum, including dialogue, diplomacy, and collective security.

The meeting concluded on a cordial note, with both sides expressing mutual interest in continued dialogue and deeper collaboration.
