On the Occasion of the 886 Anniversary of the The Portuguese Republic
ISLAMABAD – On behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Portugal we are celebrating the 886th anniversary of our country. In Pakistan, we are also celebrating 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Historically, interactions between the Portuguese and the people inhabiting what is today the territory of Pakistan began in 1498. Signifi cant commonalities arise from those interactions at multiple levels. Looking to the future, Portugal is ready to signifi – cantly enhance its cooperation with Pakistan both bilaterally and within the multilateral framework.
