Ambassador Farhadov, Azerbaijan’s Independence Day symbolizes the triumph of sovereignty and the enduring spirit of resilience

Islamabad – The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Pakistan hosted a grand reception in Islamabad on Friday to mark Azerbaijan’s Independence Day. The event was attended by high-ranking officials, diplomats, and prominent figures from Pakistan and the international community.

Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, was the chief guest, while Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, and former Climate Change Minister Senator Sherry Rehman were among the distinguished attendees. The reception also saw the participation of foreign ambassadors, government officials, business leaders, media personalities, and members of the Azerbaijani community in Pakistan.

The ceremony commenced with the playing of the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Pakistan, symbolizing the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.

Azerbaijan’s Historic Independence & Pakistan’s Key Role

In his address, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, highlighted the significance of May 28, which marks the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) in 1918—the first secular democratic republic in the Muslim world.

He expressed gratitude to Pakistan for being among the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan’s independence in December 1991 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Ambassador Farhadov emphasized that the two nations share deep-rooted bonds of friendship, brotherhood, and strategic partnership, strengthened by historical and cultural ties.

The reception served as a testament to the growing diplomatic and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, with both nations committed to further enhancing bilateral relations in various fields.
