Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Strengthens Ethiopia–Pakistan Ties in Meeting with Sindh Chief Minister

KARACHI — H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, at his office in Karachi.

The meeting served as yet another milestone in the growing partnership between Ethiopia and Pakistan. Discussions covered a broad spectrum of cooperation, including trade, investment, aviation, tourism, culture, and climate change. Both sides also explored new avenues for collaboration in agriculture, agro-processing, education, and health — reaffirming their shared commitment to deepening bilateral ties.

Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker highly commended the Chief Minister’s initiative in hosting a high-level Ethiopian delegation for a Green Dialogue at the Sindh Chief Minister House, emphasizing its pivotal role in formalizing cooperation against climate change.

He further briefed the Chief Minister on Ethiopia’s extensive preparations to host Pakistan’s Single Country Exhibition in Addis Ababa this October, which is expected to draw significant participation from Pakistani businesses. The Ambassador highlighted how Ethiopian Airlines continues to strengthen connectivity between Pakistan and Africa, describing it as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s Look Africa and Engage Africa policies.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah lauded Ethiopian Airlines as a “game-changer” for Pakistan-Africa relations and praised Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker’s effective and visionary leadership in expanding bilateral cooperation. He reiterated Sindh’s commitment to further enhancing ties with Ethiopia and elevating relations to new heights.

Mr. Ibrahim Khalid Tawab, Honorary Consul of Ethiopia in Karachi, was also present at the meeting.
