- Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula is a Visionary Diplomat Showcasing Ethiopia’s Strength, Resilience, and Opportunities in Pakistan
Karachi, Pakistan – In recognition of his outstanding contributions to advancing Ethiopia–Pakistan relations, H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, was conferred an Honorary PhD degree and a Gold Medal by H.E. Kamran Khan Tessori, Governor of Sindh.
The distinguished honor was bestowed during a special convocation ceremony organized by the Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology at the Governor House Sindh, attended by senior government officials, parliamentarians, diplomats, business leaders, civil society representatives, and media.
In his address, Governor Tessori lauded Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula for his visionary leadership and tireless efforts in cementing diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between Ethiopia and Pakistan. He highlighted the Ambassador’s pivotal role in the successful commencement of Ethiopian Airlines operations in Pakistan, a milestone achievement that has become a flagship of Pakistan’s Look Africa and Engage Africa policies.
Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, while expressing profound gratitude to the Governor, described him as a “Friend of Ethiopia” for his instrumental support in the establishment of the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, the facilitation of official and business delegations, and the launch of Ethiopian Airlines in Karachi.
Following the ceremony, both dignitaries held a meeting to discuss avenues for deepening bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including trade, investment, aviation, education, health, culture, environment, and tourism.
The recognition of Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula not only reflects his exceptional diplomatic achievements but also underscores the growing strength of the Ethiopia–Pakistan partnership, which continues to flourish under his stewardship.
