In its final communiqué, the Council explicitly welcomed United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797 (adopted October 31, 2025), which endorses the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative as the credible, realistic, and viable basis for a lasting political solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara. This alignment between the GCC and the UN Security Council represents a major strategic validation of Morocco’s diplomatic approach.
The Council further commended the sovereign decision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to formally present the Autonomy Initiative to the Security Council and to designate October 31st annually as “Unity Day,” a national holiday.
