ISLAMABAD: United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Islamabad on Monday for an official three-day visit to Pakistan, scheduled from October 6 to 8, 2026, at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

Upon his arrival, the UN chief was received by Acting Foreign Secretary Ambassador Nabeel Munir.

During his visit, Guterres is expected to hold high-level meetings with Pakistan’s political leadership and senior officials, with discussions likely to focus on regional and international developments, multilateral cooperation and issues of mutual interest.

The visit underscores the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the United Nations and provides an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation on peace, development, humanitarian affairs and other global challenges.
