- SIFC highlights opportunities in textiles, agriculture, ICT, pharmaceuticals and Special Economic Zones
ISLAMABAD: The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) hosted Ambassador of Portugal to Pakistan Paulo Domingues for discussions focused on expanding bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation.
During the meeting, SIFC officials and the Portuguese ambassador exchanged views on opportunities for Portuguese investors in key sectors of Pakistan’s economy, including textiles, agriculture, information and communications technology (ICT), pharmaceuticals and Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
The meeting also highlighted the growing potential for cooperation between Pakistan and Portugal in sports and youth development.
SIFC officials welcomed the launch of FC Porto’s Dragon Force Academy in Sialkot, established in partnership with Forward Sports, describing it as an important development that brings the renowned Portuguese football club’s youth-development programme to Pakistan.
The academy is expected to provide young Pakistani footballers with opportunities to access international-standard training and coaching methodologies.
The discussions underscored the potential for stronger private-sector engagement and increased investment flows between the two countries. SIFC reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating international investors and supporting mutually beneficial economic partnerships.
The meeting reflects broader efforts to strengthen Pakistan-Portugal relations through expanded cooperation in trade, investment, technology, agriculture, industry and sports.
