- Residential buildings and other facilities damaged as overnight attacks strike Ukraine’s capital and Black Sea port
KYIV: Russian air strikes injured at least 13 people and damaged residential and other buildings in Kyiv and the Black Sea port city of Odesa in the early hours of Thursday, Ukrainian officials said.
The attacks triggered explosions across Kyiv, according to a Reuters witness, while emergency and municipal authorities reported damage at several locations in both cities.
Ten Wounded in Kyiv
Kyiv city authorities said 10 people were injured in the capital during the overnight strikes.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the attacks damaged apartment buildings and other inhabited structures. Falling debris also struck warehouse facilities and landed near a petrol station, areas that officials said have increasingly been affected by attacks.
Emergency services were deployed to the affected locations as authorities assessed the extent of the damage.
Odesa Apartment Building Hit
In Odesa, three people were injured, including a child, after a Russian strike hit a 19-storey residential building, local authorities said.
The attack caused damage to the building and surrounding areas, according to officials, who continued assessing the impact of the strikes.
Overnight Strikes Continue
The latest attacks came as Russia continues its campaign of missile and drone strikes against Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.
Kyiv and Odesa have repeatedly come under attack during the ongoing conflict, with residential areas, energy facilities, warehouses and other civilian infrastructure among the sites affected by previous strikes.
Ukrainian authorities continue to urge residents to follow air-raid warnings and seek shelter during periods of heightened military activity.
