- New Air Link Boosts Tourism, Business Ties and People-to-People Contacts Between the Two Brotherly Countries
KARACHI: Direct air connectivity between Uzbekistan and Pakistan has received a significant boost with the launch of new flights between Tashkent and Karachi by Centrum Air from September 3.
The inaugural flight arrived at Karachi Airport at 4:20 a.m. local time, with the airline’s Airbus A320 aircraft receiving a traditional ceremonial water-cannon salute upon landing, marking the beginning of the new direct air service.
Warm Welcome for Inaugural Flight
The arrival ceremony was attended by representatives of the Sindh provincial administration and local government authorities, members of the diplomatic corps in Karachi, officials of the Sindh Tourism Development Corporation, representatives of airlines and tour operators, as well as members of the media.
The launch was welcomed as an important development in strengthening the longstanding fraternal ties between Uzbekistan and Pakistan and creating greater opportunities for direct interaction between the two countries.
Boost to Tourism and Business Cooperation
Speaking at the ceremony, representatives of the Sindh provincial government described the new flight as another practical initiative by Uzbekistan to bring the peoples of the two brotherly countries closer together.

They noted that enhanced direct connectivity would help increase tourist flows, facilitate business travel, promote investment and strengthen people-to-people contacts, while also contributing to greater cooperation in the tourism sector.
The new route is expected to provide passengers with a more convenient travel option between Uzbekistan’s capital and Pakistan’s largest city and commercial hub, while opening additional opportunities for tour operators and businesses in both countries.
Eight Weekly Direct Flights
With the launch of the Tashkent-Karachi service, the number of direct flights between Uzbekistan and Pakistan has risen to eight per week, further strengthening the growing air connectivity between the two countries.
The expansion reflects the increasing momentum in Uzbekistan-Pakistan relations and underscores the importance of direct transport links in promoting tourism, trade, business exchanges and closer ties between the peoples of the two nations.
