CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping at Cairo International Airport on Tuesday as the Chinese leader began his official visit to Egypt, scheduled from September 1 to 3.

The visit forms part of Xi Jinping’s wider international tour and is expected to provide fresh momentum to the longstanding strategic partnership between Egypt and China.

Focus on Bilateral and Strategic Cooperation

During his visit, President Xi is expected to hold talks with President El-Sisi on bilateral relations and a range of regional and international issues of mutual concern.

The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership, while exploring new avenues for cooperation in political, economic and development sectors.

Regional and International Issues on Agenda

The two leaders are also expected to exchange views on major regional developments and international challenges, with particular attention to issues affecting peace, stability and development in the Middle East.

Xi’s visit underscores the importance both countries attach to deepening bilateral ties and expanding practical cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, infrastructure and development.

The visit is expected to further consolidate the close Egypt-China relationship and open new opportunities for cooperation in areas of shared strategic interest.
