Russian Envoy Affirms SCO’s Strategic Importance as Pakistan Prepares for Chairmanship

ISLAMABAD – Ambassador Albert P. Khorev, representative of the Russian Federation, participated in a high-level meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member State Ambassadors, convened by Dr. Muhammad Faisal, Pakistan’s National Coordinator for the SCO.

The session, hosted by the Pakistani side, centered on organizational preparations and procedural arrangements in view of Pakistan’s forthcoming assumption of the SCO Chairmanship.

In his address, Ambassador Khorev underscored that the SCO remains a cornerstone of Russia’s foreign policy agenda, reaffirming Moscow’s sustained commitment to the Organization’s strategic objectives. He called for intensified efforts to advance tangible cooperation across multiple domains, including finance, investment, technology, industrial integration, digital infrastructure, transport connectivity, and energy security.

Concluding his remarks, Ambassador Khorev extended his best wishes to the Pakistani team for a successful tenure as Chair and reiterated Russia’s readiness to engage in constructive and results-oriented collaboration throughout Pakistan’s leadership term.
