KYIV: At least five people were injured in overnight Russian bombing attacks on the northern Ukrainian city of Sumy, regional Governor Oleh Hryhorov said Monday.

Hryhorov said the strikes caused damage in several residential areas of the city, according to a statement posted on the Telegram messaging platform.

Emergency and local authorities were assessing the extent of the damage and responding to the aftermath of the overnight attacks.

The latest strikes come amid continued Russian attacks across Ukraine, with civilian areas and critical infrastructure repeatedly coming under fire.
