- CBS News Says Power Plants and Refineries Among Potential Targets
WASHINGTON : The United States and Israel are reportedly preparing to launch one of the most extensive military campaigns to date targeting Iran’s energy infrastructure, with strikes potentially taking place over the weekend, according to a report by CBS News citing informed sources.
The report said Washington and Tel Aviv are planning a large-scale bombing campaign focused on key energy facilities across Iran, marking a significant escalation in tensions between the two countries and Tehran.
According to the sources, critical infrastructure—including power plants and oil refineries—is expected to be among the primary targets of the planned strikes. Two sources familiar with the matter indicated that the operations could begin at any point during the weekend.
Neither US nor Israeli officials have publicly confirmed the reported plans, while Iranian authorities have not yet issued an official response.
The reported preparations come amid heightened regional tensions and growing concerns over the potential impact of any military escalation on regional security and global energy markets.
