ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening relations with the United States, describing the decades-long partnership between the two countries as important for regional stability, economic growth, and mutual interests.
Addressing a reception hosted by Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker in Islamabad to mark the United States’ National Day, the prime minister said Pakistan highly values its relationship with Washington and remains committed to constructive engagement.
He praised the leadership of US President Donald Trump, saying continued cooperation between Pakistan and the United States could contribute to peace and prosperity in the region.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that Pakistan-US relations span more than eight decades and have expanded across multiple areas, including trade, investment, defense cooperation, and people-to-people contacts.
He recalled that the United States was among the first countries to recognize Pakistan after independence, noting that former US President Harry S. Truman had sent a congratulatory message to Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah, marking the beginning of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
The prime minister said the historic relationship has continued to evolve through changing global circumstances, with both countries working together on shared challenges.

Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker said Pakistan and the United States enjoy stronger relations than ever, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation.
Speaking at the event, she noted that the celebration also marked the 250th anniversary of American independence and thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for attending as the chief guest.
Ambassador Baker said the partnership between the two countries reflects a long history of diplomatic engagement and shared interests.
Pakistan’s Role in Regional Diplomacy Highlighted
The US envoy also appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in reducing tensions between the United States and Iran, saying Islamabad’s role had opened a new chapter in bilateral relations.
She praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir, for their contribution toward facilitating dialogue and promoting regional stability.
The ambassador described the US-Iran engagement hosted in Islamabad under Pakistan’s facilitation as an important diplomatic development, reflecting Pakistan’s commitment to peace and dialogue.
A Renewed Focus on Future Cooperation
The reception highlighted the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and the United States and underscored both countries’ interest in expanding cooperation in the years ahead.
Officials from both sides expressed confidence that continued engagement would further strengthen bilateral relations and contribute to regional peace and economic development.
