Narowal, Pakistan – In a significant step towards fostering sustainable development and youth empowerment, the National Incubation Centre for Social Entrepreneurship was officially inaugurated at the University of Narowal. This landmark initiative is a collaborative effort between the Government of Denmark, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Pakistan, and the University of Narowal.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by key dignitaries, including Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives; H.E. Maja Derrous Mortensen, the Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan; and Mr. Troels Vester, Country Representative for UNODC Pakistan. Their joint presence underscored the strong cross-sectoral partnership driving this initiative.

In her remarks, Her Excellency Ambassador Maja Derrous Mortensen emphasized the strategic importance of investing in Pakistan’s future. “This centre represents a tangible commitment to harnessing the immense potential of Pakistani youth,” stated Ambassador Mortensen. “By providing them with the right tools and environment, we are not just supporting individual entrepreneurs; we are cultivating a generation of change-makers who will drive progress aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. Denmark is proud to partner in this endeavor to create a more resilient and innovative future for Pakistan.”
The National Incubation Centre will serve as a dynamic hub, equipping young Pakistanis with the essential skills, expert mentorship, and collaborative space needed to transform innovative ideas into practical, community-focused solutions. The centre will focus on key sectors critical to Pakistan’s sustainable development, including climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy, cultural tourism, and digital services.
The partners extended their appreciation to the students and faculty of the University of Narowal for their warm reception and enthusiastic engagement, noting the powerful sense of community that will be fundamental to the centre’s success.
This initiative stands as a powerful testament to the belief that a stronger, more prosperous future begins when young people are given the opportunity, resources, and support to build it themselves.
