TEHRAN – Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Ministry has ordered the full reopening of all museums, historical palaces, and archaeological sites, ending a nearly three-month closure prompted by the war with Israel.
According to a report from ISNA, the ministry’s Directorate of Museums has instructed managers to resume regular operations immediately. The directive requires facilities to be prepared for public visitation, with new working hours to be announced on institutional websites and social media.
The sites, including flagship institutions like the National Museum of Iran and the UNESCO-listed Golestan Palace, were shuttered on June 13th to protect artifacts, with some objects moved to secure storage. While the ministry had signaled a potential reopening in late July, many locations remained closed until now, a delay that had drawn criticism from the tourism industry.
The ministry stated that the resumption of cultural services aims to strengthen national morale and social cohesion through new exhibitions and public events.
