ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — In a powerful gesture of unity and compassion, H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, the Ambassador of Ethiopia to Pakistan, joined fellow African Ambassadors and High Commissioners in expressing profound condolences to the Government and people of Pakistan following the devastating flash floods that have claimed numerous lives and displaced countless communities.

The African diplomatic delegation met with H.E. Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Secretary (Africa) at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to offer their heartfelt sympathies and unwavering support during this time of national tragedy.

“The People of Ethiopia stand with Pakistan during this difficult time,” said Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and destruction caused by the monsoon floods. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”

The Ethiopian envoy emphasized the urgent need for global cooperation in addressing the escalating effects of climate change. He reaffirmed Ethiopia’s full support for Pakistan’s ongoing call for climate justice, stressing the need for equitable action and resource mobilization to help vulnerable nations cope with climate-induced disasters.

Ambassador Jamal Abdul’s remarks reflect Ethiopia’s growing role in international diplomacy and humanitarian advocacy, particularly within the African-Asian partnership framework. His participation in the solidarity meeting underscores the shared values of compassion, resilience, and multilateral cooperation that unite the Global South.

In the face of increasingly frequent natural disasters exacerbated by climate change, Ethiopia’s message of unity serves as a timely reminder of the strength found in collective support and shared responsibility.
