Rabat, Morocco – In a landmark visit that underscores Morocco’s growing influence in global football, FIFA President Gianni Infantino today toured the newly reconstructed Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat, accompanied by President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa.
Infantino lauded the stadium as “one of the most modern and innovative stadiums in the world,” highlighting it as a powerful symbol of Morocco’s sporting ambition and forward-looking vision.
“A football stadium today is much more than just a place to play football. It is a symbol for a country and a place to unite people, and this particular stadium is already a true jewel, showing the modern Morocco, a country projecting itself into the future and choosing football to unite the world,” Infantino wrote in a social media post following the visit.
The Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, completely rebuilt after the original venue was demolished in mid-2023, stands as a testament to Morocco’s steadfast commitment to modernizing its sports infrastructure. With cutting-edge design and international-standard facilities, the stadium is a key component of Morocco’s preparations to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.
Strategically important beyond national competitions, the stadium will serve as a venue for high-stakes international fixtures. It is already scheduled to host a semi-final of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, and it will also be one of the premier venues for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which Morocco is set to host.
The FIFA president’s tour reflects global recognition of Morocco’s dynamic investment in football, both in infrastructure and in the sport’s power to unify communities.
The reconstruction of Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah is part of a broader national strategy aimed at positioning Morocco as a continental and global football hub. With its state-of-the-art architecture and multifaceted facilities, the stadium is emblematic of a new era in Moroccan football — one driven by excellence, inclusivity, and international cooperation.
As Morocco continues to solidify its place on the global football stage, this modern marvel in Rabat not only showcases engineering brilliance but also stands as a proud symbol of a nation where football is a tool for unity, pride, and international dialogue.
