OIC Foreign Ministers Praise King Mohammed VI’s Efforts in Safeguarding Al Quds Asharif

Istanbul – The 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Istanbul on June 21–22, commended the unwavering efforts of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco, Chairman of the Al Quds Committee, in protecting the sanctity and heritage of Al Quds Asharif (Jerusalem).

Recognition of Morocco’s Role in Defending Al Quds

In a resolution titled “The Capital of the State of Palestine, Al Quds Asharif,” the OIC ministers lauded the Bayt Mal Al Quds Asharif Agency, the operational arm of the Al Quds Committee, for its humanitarian and developmental projects that directly benefit the Palestinian people and strengthen their resilience. The agency has implemented numerous initiatives in education, healthcare, housing, and social welfare, contributing to the preservation of the city’s Arab-Islamic identity.

Istanbul Declaration Highlights Morocco’s Leadership

The Istanbul Declaration, adopted at the conclusion of the session, welcomed the Al Quds Committee’s efforts under King Mohammed VI’s leadership in:

  • Protecting the legal and historical status of Al Quds Asharif as an integral part of Palestinian territory.
  • Promoting interfaith coexistence by safeguarding the city’s identity as a symbol of tolerance among the three monotheistic religions.
  • Supporting the Palestinian people through sustainable development programs.

OIC’s Broader Resolutions

The two-day ministerial meeting also addressed key political, economic, and cultural challenges facing the Islamic world, including:

  • Strengthening solidarity with Palestine amid ongoing violations in occupied territories.
  • Enhancing economic cooperation among OIC member states.
  • Promoting dialogue and unity to counter Islamophobia and extremism.
