Riyadh (SPA) — Under the esteemed patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the 45th King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorizing, Reciting, and Interpreting the Holy Quran is set to commence on Saturday, Safar 15, 1447 AH (August 09, 2025), at the Grand Mosque in Makkah Al-Mukarramah.
Organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, this year’s edition will welcome contestants from 128 countries—the highest number of participating nations since the competition began in 1399 AH (1979 CE). This record-breaking turnout underscores the Kingdom’s unmatched global leadership in hosting Quranic events and fostering spiritual excellence.
Renowned for its rigor and prestige, the King Abdulaziz International Competition stands as a cornerstone of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to elevate the status of the Holy Quran worldwide. Through this initiative, the Kingdom continues to champion values of moderation, peace, and enlightenment, and reaffirms its historic commitment to serving Islam and the Muslim Ummah.
