Russia continues to contribute to the resolution of a challenging humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh based on Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s initiative concerning the parallel reopening of the Lachin and Agdam routes for humanitarian transport.
On September 18, thanks to the efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross with support from the Russian peacekeeping contingent and the Foreign Ministry, shipments of food and medicine were delivered to the region simultaneously from both directions. We anticipate continuing and regular unimpeded humanitarian shipments for the benefit of the local people.
We hope that gradual improvements in the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh will create proper conditions for initiating a dialogue between Baku and Stepanakert and for resuming the systematic work on the implementation of the entire package of trilateral agreements between the leaders at the highest level achieved in 2020-2022, aimed at normalising Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.
We are fully committed to maintaining peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
