Ambassador of Thailand to Norway attended the Abbot Appointment Ceremony of the Union of Thai Sanghas in Europe (UTSE) zone 3 at Wat Thai Norway

H.E. Ms. Vimolbajra Ruksakiati, Ambassador of Thailand to Norway, along with Ms. Potchamas Saengthien, Counsellor, and Embassy’s officials attended the Abbot Appointment Ceremony of the Union of Thai Sanghas in Europe (UTSE), zone 3, covering 33 temples in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland, at Wat Thai Norway.

The Ceremony was conducted by Phra Vimolsasanavides, the Abbot of Wat Thai Norway and President of the UTSE and was participated by 24 members of the Sanga, including 20 Abbots. It was well attended by about 100 members of Thai community in Norway, including members of the Sangha.

The Abbot Appointment Ceremony of the UTSE is the first Ceremony conducted outside Thailand, in order to promote unity among the Sanghas, to commend Buddhist missionary work of the Abbots in Europe, and to approve status as Dhammaduta. The Abbot Appointment Ceremony of the UTSE will be held in 4 zones, covering more than 100 temples throughout Europe. Later on, the Ceremony will be held at Wat Buddha Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, on 14 October 2023, at Wat Buddhavihara Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on 15 October 2023, and at Wat Srinagarindravararam, Switzerland, on 21 October 2023, respectively.
